The cook  prepares high quality food based on guidelines set by their supervisors. Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of food items for the line, pantry and/or the production area of the main kitchen. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and/or equivalent work experience. Certification preferred in food sanitation and food handling. One year in a hotel environment preferred. Long hours sometimes required. Medium work-Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to stand for entire shift. Ability to withstand temperature variations, both hot and cold. Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations. Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need. Must be effective at listening, understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests. Must be able to work with and understand data, and basic arithmetic functions. Prepare food of consistent quality and presentation standards according to recipes/direction from Chef(s). Follow estimates received from Chef(s) on production charts as closely as possible. Fill in production charts correctly on a daily basis. Follow correct food handling procedures as designated by local health department standards. Practice sanitation standards at all times. Make sure that all perishables are stored at proper temperature and location. Maintain clean and orderly work station at all times. Control waste, loss, and usage of leftover items at all times. Assist in maintaining standards and practices of all team members in respective areas through suggestive, positive sharing of relevant information. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
